CardScan or Neat Receipt/Biz Card Scanner

Thanks for the Costco tip! This is excellent. I haven't gotten a scanner yet b/c that $200 price tag was too high. Now, if I can save $50 at Costco - hooray!

CardScan or Neat Receipt/Biz Card Scanner

Kathy: Thank you for that excellent feedback. :applause: I've read good and bad feedback from so many people and just can't quite figure out which one to go with. A friend lent me her CardScan it was great. The Neat Receipts (all in one) is very expensive, so I'm trying to decide if I need...

CardScan or Neat Receipt/Biz Card Scanner

I recently borrowed a CardScan from a friend and that thing is VERY cool. It is so easy to scan. It includes an image (front and back) of the card, and is pretty accurate with how it fills in the different fields. I did have to some clean up with each car, but it didn't take long. I figure I...

Plagarizing website content is a big no-no

Tammie: No offense taken and hopefully none on your end! I'm just very much into personal responsibility and integrity. I've worked hard to create the business and websites that I have. I'm happy to teach and share and mentor and coach, but not happy to be "ripped off" even it is softened...

Plagarizing website content is a big no-no

Tammie: I agree with you that certain words are just part of the Virtual Assistant lingo, and that being copied can be seen as a form of flattery, but those of us having issues are seeing entire paragraphs, pages, or bios cut and pasted from our websites. My opinion is if someone is having...

Plagarizing website content is a big no-no

Simply use this link: http://www.copyscape.com/. You can type your website in there (the homepage first, and then each other page if you want). It's an amazing tool.

Plagarizing website content is a big no-no

Thankfully, I received a reply within a matter of hours. Turns out she was a subscriber to my e-zine, too. Guess I'll keep checking throughout the year... angie

A new mobile assistant on this board

I'm glad I could give you some new inspiration! At the end of the day, I'm always interested in serving clients in the way that serves them best - and for some of them, the traditional "in office" assistant is just right.

Do you charge per hour no matter what or per service performed?

Ah, you know I was thinking of a "project fee" rather than a "fixed fee." I have in the past quoted a fee for a project and been really burned doing that (i.e. the project took longer, was more involved, etc.). Because of that, I took another look at my pricing and decided to go with a...

Plagarizing website content is a big no-no

Shari, I just stumbled on this post and checked both my sites to see if there were problems. BINGO! There were three paragraphs with very specific language that I use that had very obviously been cut and pasted onto someone's homepage. I have written her a letter asking her to remove the content...

Do you charge per hour no matter what or per service performed?

I exclusively charge by the hour, with three different hourly rates depending on the service I am providing (admin, bookkeeping, writing/editing). I rarely charge a fixed fee, b/c I've gotten burned by doing that in the past.

    I thinkI've found my niche

Lori: I'd consider trying to contact RE agents in your area. Perhaps Appraiser, too. I did lots of work for an appraiser last year, starting assignments, pulling possible comps, creating brochures, calling about past due invoices, and completing drawing based on his sketches. For...

Re: List your Virtual Assistant Blog in our directory Phooey! Just started my blog last week, but have been regularly sending out an e-zine since Jan 2008. Will look forward to including my blog in three months. This is a very cool idea. Thanks for doing it! angela

A new mobile assistant on this board

Hi, ladies (and some gentlemen, I assume). I think I mentioned I've been in business almost 6 years (March is my annual anniversary). It's been a really fun six years, although the phone did get mighty quiet for six weeks around Thanksgiving this year. I actually call myself a Mobile...

A new mobile assistant on this board

Hi, all and thanks for letting me join in here. I'm a Mobile/Virtual Assistant in Charlotte, NC. If you're in the Charlotte, NC area, I'd love to get together for coffee to meet sometime. I think the "in person" relationships as much as the virtual ones. I've been in business almost 6 years...
